These manuals and guides are provided for the use of GDOT and consultant engineers in the development of construction and maintenance plans. Additional, subject specific guidance is included under several other tabs for reference.

These files allow users to customize their standard MicroStation and/or OpenBridge Designer (OBD) workspaces to include items uniquely created for GDOT plan production. Access to current bridge cells, bridge notes, line styles, and embedded subprograms are provided.

For a complete list of current GDOT supported software versions, including OBD, please visit the GDOT Design Software webpage.

NOTE: All files designated as ".exec" files will need to be renamed after download to have an extension of "exe". For support on any files below, please contact the Solutions Center.

MICROSTATION V8I Description Revised


DISCLAIMER: The OpenBridge Designer (OBD) workspace below is being provided and supported for production use on projects with survey and roadway design in OpenRoads Designer and bridge designs starting:
Preliminary Bridge Design Summary (P6 Activity 22000) on or after May 1, 2023 OR
Final Bridge Design LOE (P6 Activity 82400) on or after May 1, 2023

NOTE: Only external users need to download and install the files under the OBD workspace below. These files are not to be used by internal GDOT staff.

OPENBRIDGE DESIGNER (OBD) Description Revised

The Basic Drawings represent standardized plan sheets to be used by designers when preparing plans. Sheets must be edited to include project specific data and information. A preview drawing and MicroStation File is provided for each sheet. In addition, some detail drawings are also provided as a resource in plan production.

The Box Beam and Cored Slab files are similar to other “Basic Drawings”, but the designer will need to extract the pertinent sheets from each file that apply to the structure under design. Guidance documents on the detailing of plans using these drawings are also included and should be referenced.

LRFD Design Programs
These LRFD programs were developed for use with MathCAD 15 or MathCAD Prime 7​. The v9 designation assigned to each program refers to the AASHTO 9th Edition, to which the program is aligned. Each program is provided as a .zip file to provide for proper downloading.​

These legacy programs are Fortran based executable files that can be run from a Dos prompt after preparing and input file according to the program instruction manual. Each link below takes you to a menu that includes the .exe file, the user manual, and a .pdf of the necessary input form. BRGEOM and BRRBAR are both identified as required programs in Section 2.8.1 of the GDOT Bridge and Structures Design Manual. Other programs are provided for use as deemed appropriate by the engineer and are not necessarily compliant with current AASHTO guidelines.
