Transit Trust Fund Program

The Georgia Department of Transportation Division of Intermodal (GDOT) is excited to announce the launch of a new transit program designed to enhance Georgia’s transit network by providing state funding for transit projects. The Transit Trust Fund Program (TTFP) is administered by GDOT and uses a population-based formula, based on 2020 Census data, to distribute state funding to Georgia’s counties with existing transit service to further support public transportation across the state. TTFP funding is distributed to the agencies that provide public transportation for these counties.

    2. Local Match: $50,000

EXAMPLE of a TTFP Eligible Operational Project - increased availability of FTA Federal program funds due to additional IIJA/BIL funding:

  • Same rule as above applies regarding a transit agency’s ability to request additional funds available due to IIJA/BIL.
    • The transit agency’s TTFP application indicates that the County’s TTFP allocation will be used to increase the transit agency budget, enabling the agency to request additional federal funds that are available due to IIJA/BIL increases in FTA programs via the annual application submitted to the Transit Program for FTA 5311/5307 funds.
