Request Crash Reports

Motorists involved in vehicle crashes in Georgia can quickly obtain a copy of their crash report via Georgia’s new online service BuyCrash.

The online reports will vary in cost starting at $5 depending on the reporting law enforcement agency, compared to $5 flat fee via U.S. mail. Users can search for their crash reports utilizing a number of search options including their name, date of crash, road of occurrence and VIN.

This new service is made possible through a partnership with Open Portal Solutions (OPS) and Georgia DOT. Half of the online fee will go to the law enforcement agency completing the report while the rest will go to OPS.

  House Bill 501, enacted by the General Assembly in the 2005 Legislative Session, approved as of July 1, 2005, disbanded the DMVS and transferred the responsibility for issuing driver's licenses and maintaining driving records to the Department of Driver Services (DDS) and the responsibility of the statewide repository for Georgia Uniform Motor Vehicle Accident Reports (GUMVAR) to GDOT.

• Insurance Information

  Please be aware that the GDOT Crash Reporting Unit does not possess or have access to automobile insurance data information. Often the officer will enter insurance information on the crash report as a courtesy to the drivers, but if you have a copy of the crash report and insurance information for the other driver is not valid or incomplete GDOT again does not have any additional information. The Georgia Department of Revenue - Motor Vehicle Division - (404) 362-6500 - is the official repository for this information in Georgia.
