SR96 Widening - Houston/Peach Counties
Project Overview
The State Route (SR) 96 widening project will improve the capacity, operational efficiency, and continuity of the SR 96 corridor between Interstate 75 and Old Hawkinsville Road/Thompson Mill Road, as growth on the corridor continues.
The proposed project begins 0.4 miles east of I-75 and ends 0.28 miles east of Old Hawkinsville Road/Thompson Mill Road. This project would widen the existing two-lane rural road to a four-lane urban facility separated at different locations by either a 44-foot grassed median or a 24-foot raised median. The urban section will also include 4-foot bike lanes, curb and gutter, and five-foot wide sidewalks along both sides of SR 96 in Houston County.
